Job summary

BaxterStorey is seeking a friendly, reliable General Assistant for its Inchinnan catering team. The role involves cash handling, counter service and helping in daily kitchen duties while delivering a welcoming customer experience.

You will work with the Chef Manager and team, with training and development opportunities, in a supportive environment that promotes a healthy work‑life balance.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications are required; training and support will be provided.
• Confident using a computer and tablets, including email, entering figures, uploading documents and updating marketing content.
• Good numeracy skills and ability to count money, cash up till and do weekly banking.
• Experience in cash handling, retail, catering or similar is advantageous but not essential.
• Organised, reliable with attention to detail and able to follow company procedures.
• Friendly and approachable with good communication and customer service.
• Able to work as part of a team and independently after training.
• Willing to take a hands-on approach to counter service, deliveries, cleaning and kitchen duties.
• Understanding of food hygiene and health and safety would be helpful, with training provided.

Responsibilities

• Till and cash handling: operate the till, process payments, daily cashing up and weekly banking per procedures.
• Marketing: update POS tablets with current menus, promotions and marketing content.
• Due diligence: assist with food safety and health and safety records, including temperature checks and cleaning records.
• Counter service: set up and replenish counter, serve food and drinks, provide friendly service.
• Deliveries and stock: check deliveries, store away, rotate stock, keep storage organised.
• Cleaning and kitchen support: clean, tidy kitchen, counter and dining areas, assist with washing up and daily duties.
