Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Catering Assistant to work at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. You will join a busy catering team and help prepare, portion and serve meals to patients, ensuring dietary needs are met and service standards are maintained.

The role involves delivering meals to wards, taking patient orders, cleaning and sanitation, and operating catering equipment safely. Prior hospital catering experience is advantageous.

• Label, store and rotate food items.
• Record temperatures and corrective actions per procedures.
• Assist with stock rotation to reduce waste.
• Support retail catering colleagues as needed.
• Complete mandatory training for the role.
• Perform other reasonable duties as required.

About the role

As a Catering Assistant with Sodexo atDoncaster Royal Infiramry, you'll play an important part in delivering a reliable and welcoming meal service for patients.

Working as part of the catering team, you'll help prepare and serve meals, deliver food to hospital wards and take patients' menu orders. You'll also ensure that equipment, crockery and service areas are kept clean, safe and hygienic.

This is a hands‑on role where attention to detail matters. From accommodating dietary requirements to recording food temperatures, your work will help ensure every meal is prepared and served safely and to the required standard.

What you'll do

• Prepare food to the required standards, taking account of patients' dietary requirements.
• Deliver meals to hospital wards.
• Take patients' menu orders accurately and professionally.
• Collect and wash crockery, cutlery and service utensils.
• Clean catering equipment using the appropriate materials and methods.
• Use industrial catering equipment safely.
• Decant, label and store food items correctly.
• Record food temperatures and any corrective actions in line with company procedures.
• Rotate stock to maintain quality and minimise waste.
• Support retail catering colleagues when required.
• Complete mandatory training relevant to your role.
• Assist with other reasonable duties in response to the needs of the service.
