East Ayrshire Council seeks a part-time food preparation assistant at Stewarton Academy, working 10 hours weekly. This temporary position involves meal prep and safeguarding responsibilities for vulnerable groups, requiring PVG membership before employment. Commitment to diversity and inclusion is emphasized.
Assist in the daily preparation of food for a variety of meal plans at various establishments across East Ayrshire to support the promotion, delivery, and integration of the Council’s key objectives, including the Community Plan, Shared Commitments, Single Outcome Agreement, and Best Value.
The duties involve Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful applicants will need to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member for Regulated Work with these groups, or be subject to a PVG Scheme Record Update if already a member, before a formal offer of employment is made. PVG records are constantly updated, and any relevant information will be discussed with the applicant prior to employment.
We follow the national guidance "Safer Recruitment Through Better Recruitment" for pre-employment checks. During your application, you should provide details of at least two relevant references, including one from your current or most recent employer, preferably from a senior manager. References from peers at the same level are not acceptable.

This is a temporary, part-time, term-time position based at Stewarton Academy, working 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 12:45 pm - 2:45 pm. The hourly rate is £12.96. The post is temporary until 30th April 2026.
