Job summary

Derbyshire County Council's Derbyshire Catering Service is recruiting a Catering Assistant to work with our kitchen team at Newbold Primary School. You will support the kitchen supervisor, assist with food preparation, cooking, portion control and setting up the dining room for service in a school environment.

Successful applicants will hold an NVQ food hygiene certificate on appointment and demonstrate a positive, customer-friendly approach while adhering to food hygiene and health and safety

Qualifications

• NVQ food hygiene certificate upon appointment.
• Experience in school or catering environments is desirable.

Exciting opportunities have arisen to join award-winning Derbyshire Catering Service.

Are you passionate about food and enjoy working as part of a team? We are currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant to work as a valued member of our dedicated kitchen team.

You will be supporting the kitchen supervisor in all areas of the service at Newbold Primary School, Cranbourne Road, Chesterfield, S41 8PF. This may involve working at a production unit or at a servery unit. Possible tasks include food preparation, cooking, portion control, allergen compliance and preparing the dining room for service.

Our Catering Assistants are our point of contact with our hungry customers. Whilst serving meals to our customers all team members help ensure that food hygiene and health & safety regulations are followed. We want to help make good lunchtime memories for our customers so it is essential that you can demonstrate an attitude which is appropriate to the school environment.

Successful completion of the NVQ food hygiene certificate will be required upon appointment.
