Job description

The Department of Biochemistry, a large and flourishing academic community that enjoys a world-class reputation for both teaching and research, is embedded in the School of the Biological Sciences. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and efficient individual to join the Department as a Catering Assistant within our existing catering team. The Departmental Catering Service provides a full catering and tearoom service to the Department's two buildings in Tennis Court Road - the Sanger and the Hopkins buildings.

Responsibilities include setting up and clearing service areas, assisting with basic food preparation, serving food, operating tills, cleaning, re-stocking, monitoring and recording food temperatures, and similar tasks in a small catering facility.

The successful candidate will join a large, friendly professional support team and should have a positive, customer-service focused attitude, good communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and the ability to prioritize workload while maintaining high standards. Previous experience is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.

This is a fixed-term position with funding available for 3 years initially. The University reserves the right to close the recruitment early if a suitable candidate is found.
