St Peter's School in York is seeking a Catering Assistant to join the Catering Department. You will help prepare the kitchen and dining areas, serve meals to staff and pupils, and maintain high hygiene standards.
Hours are 8.30am-2.30pm, Monday to Friday during term time (34 weeks). The role requires teamwork, attentiveness to safety, and the ability to follow policies on safeguarding and food hygiene. Applicants should be prepared for pre-employment checks.

To assist in preparing the kitchen and dining hall for mealtime service including ensuring that adequate supplies of crockery and cutlery are available and in a clean and presentable state throughout service periods.
To serve food to staff and pupils of the School and liaise with the kitchen to ensure that adequate supplies of all food being served are available throughout the service period.
To clean of all areas of the kitchen, dining rooms, dishwasher and other areas as detailed. Includes cleaning of kitchen equipment to the highest standards and clearing up of any spillages immediately.
To assist with the preparation of meals.
To report all accidents, damage or breakages to the Chef.
To actively assist in ensuring a five star food hygiene rating, including assisting with daily food safety checks (e.g. temperature control).
To complete any written records and documents that are necessary, including preparing food labels and menu cards which enable consumers to identify key features; the principal ingredients in each dish and whether or not it is suitable for vegetarians.
To assist the kitchen in the preparation and physical delivery of catering and supplies to meetings, houses and common rooms.
