Job summary

Chiltern Way Academy Sefton Park campus is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant to support daily kitchen operations for up to 70 young people aged 9-19 with a history of emotionally based school non-attendance (EBSNA).

Working hours 08:30 - 13:30, Monday to Friday, with duties including food preparation, washing up, cleaning, serving meals, and helping with stock control. The role emphasises food hygiene and safeguarding; a DBS check is required.

• Washing up and cleaning of kitchen premises and equipment.
• Assisting with stock and paperwork as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist and operate within the kitchen during daily food production and service on allocated tasks.
• Wash up and clean kitchen premises and equipment.
• Clear dining area, sweep and mop floors, move light furniture.
• Serve meals and respond to customer preferences.
• Assist in providing refreshments for staff, visitors, Governors and Trustees.

Key Responsibilities

• To assist and operate within the kitchen during daily food production and service on allocated tasks as per daily menu supplied, ensuring proper standards of presentation and correct economical use of materials and equipment.
• To undertake washing up and the safe and correct cleaning of the kitchen premises and equipment
• To clear the dining area including sweeping, mopping floors and moving light furniture
• To serve meals as requested whilst being responsive to customer preferences
• To assist in providing and transporting refreshments for staff, visitors, Governors and Trustees as required
• To assist the Senior Catering Assistant with paperwork and stock control
• To remove all rubbish and leftovers at the end of each day
• To be aware of the importance of food hygiene and undertake any necessary action to ensure the safety of food provided to staff and students
• To report equipment, maintenance problems and energy leaks to the line manager in a timely fashion

We are seeking a part time Catering Assistant to join our Sefton Park campus. This campus provides education and care for up to 70 young people aged 9-19 who have a history of emotionally based school non-attendance (EBSNA), high levels of anxiety and significant gaps in learning due to disrupted educational journeys.

Working hours 08.30 - 13.30 Monday to Friday.
