Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a kitchen/food service assistant to support our catering team during term time. You will assist with food preparation, maintain kitchen cleanliness, receive deliveries and help serve items to customers as directed by the Chefs.

Working hours are 11:00–14:30, Monday to Friday, term time only. Basic knife skills and food preparation abilities are needed; a Catering and Hospitality certificate can be provided if required.

• Time management skills essential for kitchen tasks.
• Experience in commercial kitchen is valued but not essential; training available.

Responsibilities

• Help with food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, trimming, and making sandwiches and salads.
• Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area and equipment; clean utensils, tableware, and catering stations.
• Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries and organise food and supply storage areas.
• Serve food items to customers in accordance with the menu prepared by the Chefs.
• Top up the vending services daily.

What are we looking for?

• Commercial kitchen experience is highly valued but not essential
• Possess a basic Catering and Hospitality certificate such as Food Handling or equivalent is desired but not essential as we can provide this for you
• Must have basic knife skills, food preparation skills, and time management skills.
• Can work under pressure and excellent organisational skills are also important
• Can stand for extended periods is often necessary due to the physical nature of the job

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

• Must have the Right to Work in the UK
• Must be prepared to undergo a DBS or Enhanced security check
• Good time-management and organisational abilities
