Job summary

Aspris Children's Services is recruiting a catering assistant for Rugeley School to join the catering team. You will support basic food preparation, assist the Chef, and help maintain hygiene standards in line with safety policies to promote healthy eating for pupils.

The role requires a proactive individual with good communication and teamwork, able to follow safeguarding guidelines and participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience preparing and cooking meals in a professional kitchen.
• Good teamwork and clear communication with colleagues.
• Ability to update menus and dietary requirements responsibly.
• Attentive to individual young people's needs and safety.

We are looking for passionate people, who can support the provision of the catering operation assisting with basic food preparation and hygiene and who can promote healthy eating and contribute to the wellbeing of our Children and Young People. In this role, you will under direction, take responsibly for parts of the catering operation, ensure the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the Company's Assured Safe Catering Policies and Procedures and assist the Chef with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with these.

We're an independent specialist school that supports young people aged 5-19 years with a diagnosis of autism and associated learning difficulties within the moderate to severe range.

Previous experience preparing and cooking meals gained within a professional kitchen environment along with the following characteristics:

• Communication - Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs.
• Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
• Organisation -You will need to be confident and organised in updating menus, dietary requirements and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people.
• Attentive - No young person is the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.
