Job description

Position: Catering Assistant

Location: Sue Ryder, St John’s Hospice, Moggerhanger, Bedford MK44 3RJ

Hours: 22.5 hours per week, including alternate weekends, Thursdays, and Fridays

Pay: £11.44 per hour (excluding weekend 30% hourly enhancement)

About Us

Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice in Moggerhanger, Bedfordshire, offers expert palliative and end-of-life care both in the hospice and in the community, covering pain management, emotional, and practical support.

About You
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate within 2 weeks of employment
  • Enjoy providing excellent customer service
  • Able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively
  • Follow policies and procedures
  • Experience in a similar environment is preferred
Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in meal and refreshment preparation
  • Serve meals and refreshments
  • Wash used utensils, pans, and crockery, using dishwashers or hand washing as appropriate
  • Clean kitchen surfaces, equipment, floors, and storage areas according to schedules
  • Ensure the kitchen is tidy and equipment is stored properly at the end of each shift
