Job summary

Aspens Services is seeking a Catering Assistant for our school-catering team in March. You will support the kitchen in basic food preparation and deliver friendly service during the lunchtime rush.

We offer term-time hours, a 15-hour week across 38 weeks per year, at £12.71 per hour. Training is provided, and safeguarding with DBS disclosure is required for staff.

Qualifications

• Team player with ability to work in a busy school catering environment.
• Experience in catering or fast-paced service.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety practices.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 is not essential as training provided.

Responsibilities

• Handle tills during service and provide quick, friendly service.
• Assist with front-line service to students and staff.
• Support basic food preparation in the kitchen.
• Maintain clean, safe kitchen and follow health and safety rules.

The role:

As a Catering Assistant, you will be a vital part of the team, supporting our kitchen in basic food preparation and delivering excellent service that makes the lunchtime rush run smoothly.

You’ll be making a real difference through responsibilities that include:

• Customer Interaction: Working on the tills during service (don’t worry, full training is provided!).
• Front-Line Service: Providing friendly, polite customer service to all students and staff.
• Essential Support: Assisting the team with basic food preparation
• Maintaining Standards: Ensuring a safe, clean kitchen environment and meeting Health and Safety compliance
