Job description

We're looking for a Catering Assistant who is willing to play a leading role in our team,feeding patients, visitors and staff. Ensuring we keep a clean and hygienicenvironment, while we prepare to move to our new building.

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Band 2, £24,323-£24,529 pro rata, Competency Based Framework with enhancements for weekends and Bank Holidays

WorkingPattern: 22.5 Hours per week, 3 x 7.5-hourshifts, 06.30-14.30 and 10.30-18.30, 2 weekends per month

Based at: Little Hulton

Main duties of the job

To support the work of the Hospice in its provision

of specialist palliative care by assisting the

catering team to meet the food service aims and

objectives.

The Catering Assistant plays a fundamental part

in supporting the catering provision by ensuring

all requirements for patients, visitors and staff are

fully met. The role requires someone who can

show sensitivity and empathy as we support our

patients and their families whilst in our care.

Job responsibilities

The Catering Assistant will:

  • Assistwith in the day to day smooth running of the kitchen and the catering service.
  • Ensureconfidentially is maintained at all times.
  • Adhereto safe working practices and all health & safety matters.
  • Assistin the maintenance of the food safety management system.
  • Undertakeother duties as assigned by the Head/Assistant cooks.
  • Be responsible for the correct use of equipment.
  • Maintainthe highest standards of Hygiene at all times.
  • Assistin the preparation and cooking of basic food dishes.
  • Ensurestaff eating areas are hygienic, clean and tidy throughout your shift.
  • Deliverand set up any Hospitality required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Level 2 food hygiene certificate, or willing to train for one.
Experience
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in food preparation.
  • To show empathy and understanding towards patients and their families in our care.
  • Work well as part of a team in a busy environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
