Job summary

Addison Park Care Home is seeking a Catering Assistant to support the Catering Supervisor in a 40-bed residential care home in Callington, Cornwall. The role involves preparing and delivering meals, maintaining a clean kitchen, and contributing to residents’ wellbeing through a nutritious diet.

You will support a friendly team, work behind the scenes to ensure high-quality meals, and help create positive mealtimes for residents at Addison Park.

Qualifications

• Experience in a care environment preferred.
• Ability to maintain high standards of hygiene and safety.
• Able to follow kitchen procedures and food safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Cater to dietary needs and ensure high presentation of meals.
• Assist in meal preparation and plating of dishes.
• Clean and sanitise kitchen areas and equipment.
• Assist with meal service in dining areas.
• Wash dishes and keep work surfaces tidy.
• Follow Food Hygiene and Health & Safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain a welcoming, hygienic kitchen and dining environment.

Job Purpose

To assist the catering supervisor in the preparation and delivery of meals and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas. This role directly contributes to the wellbeing and happiness of our residents by supporting a balanced, nutritious diet and ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and care.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day smooth operation of the kitchen
• Understand and cater to special dietary needs, ensuring presentation and nutritional standards are met
• Support the kitchen team in preparing cooking and plating high-quality meals
• Clean kitchen areas and equipment according to work schedules
• Assist with meal service in the dining areas
• Tidy up and wash dishes, utensils, and surfaces after meals
• Follow Food Hygiene and Health & Safety procedures at all times
• Ensure a safe, hygienic, and welcoming kitchen and food service environment
