Job summary

Blue Arrow is seeking a reliable Catering Assistant / Kitchen Porter to join a busy educational catering team in the Lewes area. This part-time, term-time-only role runs Monday to Friday, roughly 9:00am–3:00pm (27.5 hours/week).

You will support food preparation and service, keep areas clean, and assist with waste disposal and stock checks. Ideal candidates have a positive attitude, good communication, and a basic understanding of food hygiene and health & safety.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with food preparation and basic kitchen duties.
• Serving meals and refreshments in a professional and friendly manner.
• Operating dishwashing equipment and ensuring crockery, cutlery, and kitchen utensils are cleaned to a high standard.
• Maintaining kitchen, servery, and dining areas in line with food hygiene requirements.
• Following cleaning schedules and completing routine sanitation tasks.
• Monitoring and replenishing stock as required.
• Supporting stock checks and storage procedures.
• Ensuring workspaces remain clean, safe, and organised throughout the day.
• Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures.
• Adhering to food safety, health and safety, and allergen management procedures.
• Supporting the wider catering team with additional duties as required.

We are currently recruiting for a reliable and enthusiastic Catering Assistant / Kitchen Porter to join a busy catering team within an educational setting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food service, and customer care.

Working as part of a friendly team, you will support the day-to-day operation of a catering facility, helping to provide a quality food service to students, staff, and visitors.

Hours

• Monday to Friday
• Approx. 9:00am to 3:00pm

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, or food service environment
• Food Safety Certificate (Level 2 or equivalent)

• Experience working within education, healthcare, or contract catering environments
