Job summary

Herne Bay High School is seeking a friendly, reliable Catering Assistant to join our school catering team. This term-time role supports food preparation, serving meals and maintaining high standards of hygiene for students and staff.

You will work 7:00am–2:00pm, Monday to Friday, 32.5 hours per week, earning £13.56 per hour. The position offers a supportive team environment and the chance to contribute to a busy, welcoming school kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the Cook with the preparation and serving of meals.
• Preparing ingredients and carrying out basic food preparation tasks.
• Serving food to students and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
• Operating cashless till points efficiently within the catering areas.
• Helping to manage queues and maintain good order during busy service periods.
• Replenishing food, drinks and other items as required.
• Cleaning and maintaining kitchen, dining and food service areas to a high standard.
• Washing up and ensuring equipment and work areas are kept clean and hygienic.
• Following food hygiene, health and safety and allergen procedures at all times.
• Supporting the Cook and catering team with the day-to-day running of the service.
• Providing a friendly and positive experience for students and staff.

Herne Bay High School is looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our school catering team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play an important role in providing high-quality, nutritious meals and excellent service to our students and staff each day.

Working alongside the Cook and wider catering team, you will help with food preparation, serving meals, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and ensuring our catering areas are safe, welcoming and well organised.

What You'll Be Doing
