Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve food and beverages to the required standards.
  • Deliver meals and refreshments to hospital wards and departments.
  • Issue and collect inpatient menus and support ward-based catering services.
  • Receive and correctly store chilled, frozen and dry goods, ensuring stock rotation.
  • Complete daily HACCP documentation, including temperature records.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and maintain clean, safe and organised food-storage and service areas.
  • Clean catering equipment, crockery, cutlery and utensils.
  • Check equipment regularly and report faults or safety concerns.
  • Monitor stock levels and replenish or order supplies when required.
  • Follow all food safety, COSHH, infection-control and Health and Safety procedures.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with patients, visitors and colleagues.
  • Support colleagues and help guide new team members when required.

As a Catering Assistant with Sodexo at Homerton Hospital, you’ll play an important part in preparing and serving nutritious, comforting meals that support patient recovery and wellbeing.

What you’ll do:
