Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our team in the Hotel Services Department at Danetre Hospital, Daventry, Northamptonshire. The role involves providing catering services for Patients, Staff, and Visitors.

Your responsibilities include preparing and cooking food using various equipment, serving customers in the restaurant, clearing tables, handling cash transactions, and maintaining hygiene standards through cleaning duties.

Essential skills include good food knowledge, interpersonal skills, customer focus, and understanding of food hygiene practices. The position offers 25 hours per week with a two-week rota pattern, including weekend shifts paid at enhanced NHS rates.

Main duties of the job

• Communicate promptly, politely, and friendly with colleagues and customers.
• Coordinate with catering staff and volunteers for timely service.
• Ensure compliance with COSHH regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and equipment.
• Prepare, cook, and assemble food items with specialised equipment, including knife skills, slicing, and use of steam ovens and brat pans.
• Prepare sandwiches, salads, and desserts for patients.
• Assist with ward trolley preparations and deliveries.
• Monitor and record food temperatures and equipment conditions.
• Participate in buffet and function preparations.
• Complete relevant paperwork as per departmental procedures.
