Job summary

Carmarthenshire County Council is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant to support meal preparation, table setup, and clean-up in a busy environment. You will follow food safety and health and safety protocols and work with a friendly team to deliver high-quality meals.

The role requires Welsh language in basic conversational level, 10 hours per week (5 days a week or as arranged), £13.45 per hour, term-time-only with an annualised pay scheme to cover 52 weeks.

Job description

Working for us, you will have the opportunity to work in a busy and exciting environment. You will be responsible for assisting our Cook in preparing nutritious and appetising meals whilst ensuring compliance with all aspects of Food Hygiene and Health and Safety. Other duties will include the setting up and clearing away of tables and general cleaning duties.

Requirements

• Knowledge of basic food safety. This would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be given.

You will need:

• A positive attitude and the willingness to learn new skills.
• Flexibility and the willingness to assist with other catering duties., An Enhanced with Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested for this job. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or adults at risk

Welsh language level - verbal Level 2 - You will need a basic level of conversational Welsh. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.

This post is for 10 hours per week / 2 hours per day. Hourly rate is £13.45. Working hours are Monday to Friday, term time only (38 weeks), ideal to fit around family commitments and other roles we offer. We offer an 'annualised' pay scheme so that our staff who work term time receive pay over 52 weeks.
