Job summary

A healthcare organization in Burton upon Trent is looking for a compassionate Catering Assistant. You will provide excellent customer care and support by preparing and delivering meals to patients, while also maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen. A good understanding of maths and English is preferred, along with a can-do attitude. Full training will be provided, including food safety training.

Overview

We are recruiting for a Catering Assistant at Queens Hospital Burton. We are looking for compassionate, caring, hardworking, flexible team members who are committed to enhancing the patient experience. All staff working for UHDB play a key role in the organisation. You must possess excellent communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and have a can-do attitude.

You will receive full training including level 2 food safety and allergen training, other mandatory training and all essential role training. Full uniform and PPE are provided. NHS terms and conditions apply.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver customer care with helpfulness, awareness and compassion to patients, visitors, staff and colleagues.
  • Prepare patient meal trays.
  • Serve cold and hot food items and deliver meals to patients.
  • Carry out cleaning duties within the kitchen and other associated areas in line with departmental cleaning schedules, including equipment, work surfaces, crockery and cutlery.
Qualifications

You will ideally possess a good understanding of mathematics and English. You should have a good understanding of customer care and be able to communicate well with patients, staff and visitors. Catering experience and a Food Safety Certificate are desirable but not essential; skills and technical training will be provided.
