Job summary

Serco is seeking a Catering Assistant in Belfast for a 3-month fixed term contract, 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am–3:30pm. You will help provide a welcoming food service environment and support safe, high-quality catering operations.

You’ll work as part of a team to deliver excellent customer experiences, maintain cleanliness, follow food safety procedures, and handle basic stock and POS transactions. Previous catering experience is a plus, and a background check is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in catering or hospitality is beneficial.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Willingness to undergo required background checks and health questionnaires.

Hourly Rate: Competitive

Schedule: 3-Month Fixed Term Contract, 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 3.30pm

As a Catering Assistant in our catering team, you’ll help create a welcoming food service environment while supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality catering services. Your work will help ensure customers receive excellent service every day in a clean, professional, and well-managed setting.

What You’ll Do As a Catering Assistant
  • Deliver excellent customer service, creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere for all customers.
  • Support the safe service of food and beverages in line with Serco standards.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness across counters, tables, service areas, crockery, cutlery, and kitchen equipment.
  • Follow health, food hygiene, and food safety procedures, including temperature monitoring and opening and closing checks.
  • Assist with stock management, replenishment, deliveries, and reporting low stock levels.
  • Process card transactions accurately and support wider catering operations as required.

Vetting And Checks

This role requires a Basic Access NI check, which will disclose any unspent convictions in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to help us identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
