Job summary

Rhodes Wood Hospital, part of Elysium Healthcare, is seeking a Catering Assistant to support kitchen operations and assist with meal preparation for young people aged 8-18 with eating disorders. You will work 37.5 hours weekly, reporting to the Head Chef, maintaining hygiene and assisting with deliveries.

• Assist catering staff with preparation and cooking of meals according to policies.
• Serve service users, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
• Maintain storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Ensure all areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly.
• Ensure kitchen meets operational hygiene standards and complies with policies.
• Liaise with the wider team, including dietitians regarding dietary and planned meals.

If so, join Rhodes Wood Hospital a service for young people with Eating Disorder conditions, where you will be working 37.5 hours a week with an established and dedicated kitchen team.

Reporting to the Head Chef, you will support the chefs to prepare meals, maintain a clean and safe working environment, and assist with deliveries. There’s a great social aspect to this role where you can interact with people outside the kitchen regularly.

As a Catering Assistant you will be:

• Assisting catering staff with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Serving service users, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
• Maintaining storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Ensuring that all areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly.
• As part of the catering team, ensuring the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Liaising with the wider team, including dietitians regarding dietary and planned meals

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP
• Experience of working within similar role.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Where you will be working:

Join the team at Rhodes Wood Hospital providing care for children and young people aged 8-18 years with eating disorders who require residential care, working on tailored treatment programmes designed for the individual needs of each young person.

There is also an on-site Ofsted Registered school to support young people continue with their education while in hospital. Rhodes Wood Hospital is located on the outskirts of Hatfield, which is easily reachable by car.
