Job summary

St Mary’s Hospital, Warrington, part of Elysium Healthcare, is seeking a Catering Assistant to support the kitchen team in preparing and serving meals in a mental health and ABI rehabilitation setting. You will work 37.5 hours per week, under the Head Chef, helping with deliveries, hygiene and stock control.

This role offers training, a supportive multidisciplinary team, and a range of benefits including annual leave and wellbeing schemes.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP.
• Relevant Catering Qualification (Desirable).
• Experience of working within similar role.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist catering staff with preparation and cooking of meals.
• Serve meals and beverages to service users, staff and visitors.
• Maintain storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Ensure areas and equipment are cleaned and stored correctly.
• Ensure kitchen and areas meet hygiene standards and policies.
• Liaise with dietitians regarding dietary and planned meals.

Reporting to the Head Chef, you will support the chefs to prepare meals, maintain a clean and safe working environment, and assist with deliveries. There’s a great social aspect to this role where you can interact with people outside the kitchen regularly.

As a Catering Assistant You Will Be

• Assisting catering staff with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Serving service users, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
• Maintaining storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Ensuring that all areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly.
• As part of the catering team, ensuring the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Liaising with the wider team, including dietitians regarding dietary and planned meals

To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Need

• Relevant Catering Qualification (Desirable)

You will be based at St Mary's Hospital, Warrington, a specialist service providing mental health and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) rehabilitation for adult men, alongside a male Acute Mental Health Ward.

Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will help individuals with complex needs progress through their recovery journey in a safe, therapeutic and recovery-focused environment.
