Job summary

York College is hiring a Catering Assistant to join its busy commercial catering outlets. The role covers serving customers, till operation, food preparation, stock replenishment and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.

The post runs 26.5 hours per week over 36 weeks per year, with shifts typically 10am–6.30pm on Mon–Wed and 10am–4.30pm on Thu–Fri; flexibility is required. We are seeking a highly reliable team player with a friendly, can-do attitude.

Catering Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a Catering Assistant to join the College’s busy commercial catering outlets. The role involves serving customers, till operation, food preparation, replenishing stock, and ensuring the equipment and premises are cleaned to a high standard. If you enjoy working in a busy environment and as part of a team, this is the role for you.

*The post is for 36 full weeks per year, commencing the first week of September until the end of June. The usual working hours will be scheduled between 10am – 6.30pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and between 10am – 4.30pm on Thursday and Friday, although flexibility is required around the needs of the business.

About the person

We are looking for a highly reliable person who is a great team player with a positive, can-do attitude, and a flexible approach to work. Experience of food preparation and working in a catering environment would be advantageous, but not essential as training will be provided. You should have a passion for delivering friendly and efficient customer service. Full uniform provided.
