Job Overview

Sodexo is seeking a dedicated and experienced Catering and Hospitality Manager to lead the catering team at Yarm School and Yarm Preparatory School, located in Yarm, TS15 9EJ. You will serve as the primary representative for Sodexo and Yarm School, a leading independent school for pupils aged 3–18. The school includes a Nursery and Pre-Prep (3-7 years), a Preparatory School (7-11 years), and a Senior School (11-18 years), including Sixth Form (16-18 years). The school offers top-class facilities, including the Princess Alexandra Auditorium, which is open to the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Sodexo Catering Services operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery to clients
  • Be visible and approachable during service for pupils and staff; provide hospitality during school closures, weekends, and evenings
  • Build and maintain profitable relationships with clients and the catering team to deliver operational excellence
  • Provide guidance and expertise in catering and hospitality, promoting Sodexo strategies and best practices
  • Motivate and lead a high-performing team to achieve objectives
  • Support business strategy development in collaboration with the Account Manager and clients, including innovation and financial targets
  • Ensure health and safety compliance for all employees and stakeholders
  • Achieve strategic and operational objectives to provide best-in-class service
  • Complete accurate monthly invoicing and financial reporting; prepare client reports as per deadlines and contracts
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets, presenting to clients and reviewing monthly
  • Collaborate with the School Events Coordinator to deliver hospitality for school events and enhance external community engagement
  • Manage the Princess Alexandra Auditorium's catering staff to deliver excellent service for public events
  • Support the Chef Manager at the Preparatory School to ensure nutritious, innovative, and compliant food offerings, including allergen management
Candidate Requirements
  • Relevant experience in a similar role with leadership and people management skills
  • Proven success in school catering, hospitality, and event management
  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams at all levels
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Excellent client management and negotiation skills
  • Experience leading initiatives and managing change
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including MS Office and electronic management systems
  • Food Safety/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
