You will drive cost efficiency and manage procurement strategies while ensuring compliance and quality standards. As the Category & Sourcing manager you will will be responsible for leading supplier management, category management and sourcing activity aligned to a specific spend area, assisting Santander UK and other group entities that Santander UK provide service to in achieving its cost to income targets.
This role will be expected to achieve this by ensuring they are the first point of call for professional advisory support acting as a key enabler to achieve the optimum outcomes for the bank. They will also support driving internal and external NPS scores
The difference you’ll make:
As Category & Sourcing Manager you’ll play a key part in the continual evolvement of Cost Management and Procurement, driving us towards Even Better Cost Management and Procurement. Liaising across the organisation to generate a full and accurate category demand, providing analysis on movements from this in the actual demand, and recommendations in how to enhance the banks cost position. You will act as an expert reference point for the banks cost management process and the external market. You will also ensure that quality, compliance and cost-effectiveness of the work delivered by our suppliers meets Santander expectations
The specific responsibility of the role is to lead and manage the team to deliver the following:
Build multi-year sourcing and category strategies using market data and industry trends, ensuring the true end to end cost picture, opportunities, risks and innovation are fully articulated and understood.
Lead and execute complex and strategic sourcing activity, understanding the impact on the cost income ratio
Drive cost and business benefits (tangible & intangible) to deliver against Procurement and business targets
Interpret business strategy and adapt into tangible sourcing and category plans
Actively identify benefit unlock through contract lifecycle management
What you’ll bring:
Proven record of successful category management in a global procurement organization.
Subject matter expert for the category and contracts under management, and generalist expertise across other areas.
Understands complex large contracts, commercial influences and technical drafting
Contribute to financial planning, including delivery of annual budget submissions, monthly forecasting, reviewing the spend versus budget status, key initiatives, opportunities and risks
It would also be nice for you to have:
Have a good understanding of the Financial Services regulatory framework
Experience in operating in Procurement systems
Experience of building high performing teams

Our preferred location for this role is Unity Place we will also consider applications in Bradford and Glasgow.

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

As well as a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy a benefits package that you can tailor to your needs. For part-time / contract roles, your salary, bonus (where eligible) and certain benefits will be prorated to reflect your working hours / contract duration.
Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.
30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.
