Job description

Reporting to: Lead Category Manager Based: Equity, Eccles or Watford

We're on the hunt for a passionate and commercially savvy Category Manager to lead the charge in our Wine category, a key part of our dynamic Alcohol team.

This role can be based from any of our offices in Equity, Eccles, or Watford, offering flexibility to choose your preferred location. We also provide a hybrid working model, combining office collaboration with remote work for your convenience.

Job Summary: Maximise the profitability of specified product categories, improve customer satisfaction, and enhance cash profit.

  • Develop and implement category plans to meet sales, margin, and profit targets while maintaining product availability.
  • Negotiate annually with suppliers to ensure competitive terms.
  • Seek and respond to customer feedback, shaping category plans accordingly and linking to sell plans and customer satisfaction.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer, supplier, or internal queries.
  • Communicate category plans and objectives clearly to ensure understanding and buy-in.
  • Ensure product ranges reflect principles of good, better, and best in the business centers.
  • Collaborate with the senior team to identify opportunities and improve ways of working.
  • Lead the category team, manage performance, and implement effective succession plans supporting Booker’s initiatives like ‘Making Everyone Welcome’ and ‘A Place to Get On’.
  • Adhere to our Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity, championing diversity and inclusion.
