Brent Council is at the heart of one of London’s most diverse and dynamic communities. To support the Council in driving forward a bold transformation agenda, the procurement team is looking for a talented Category Manager, with a focus on Construction, to help deliver high-quality, value-for-money services that make a difference.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to work in partnership with stakeholders and key strategic advisors on the delivery of major procurement projects, as well as manage end-to-end procurement processes and lead on complex procurement projects.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Lead complex projects, managing multi-disciplined teams to achieve a common outcome and to provide guidance and supervision to Procurement Officers supporting projects.
  2. Ensure that the council’s procurement processes meet key legislative and policy requirements such as Public Procurement rules, Transparency, and Social Value.
  3. Ensure all council’s procurement processes meet the objectives set out in the current Procurement Strategy.
  4. Take responsibility as directed by the Head of Procurement to act as a Theme Lead and contribute to the successful delivery of one or more of the Procurement Strategy pillars.

What We’re Looking For:

  1. Strong understanding of public e-tendering and procurement regulations, including recent working knowledge of the Procurement Act.
  2. Previous experience in housing, construction, or regeneration procurement projects.
  3. Excellent stakeholder and project management skills.
  4. Expert knowledge of strategic sourcing tools and techniques.
  5. A proactive, adaptable approach and a passion for learning.

The salary range for the role is £58,000 to £61,000.
