Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Category Buyer in Peterborough/Stafford to lead category strategies in P&E Oil and Water Pumps & Valvetrain.

The role focuses on delivering value through quality, cost, delivery, and supplier performance while engaging with global suppliers and cross-functional teams. You will shape sourcing strategies, conduct negotiations, and leverage data analytics to drive continuous improvement across the supply network.

Qualifications

• Experience in Procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier management, or a related business function.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret supplier, operational, and financial data and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Experience building and managing supplier relationships, including performance management and continuous improvement.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate across cross-functional teams and influence decisions.
• Experience supporting sourcing activities, contract management, commercial negotiations, and procurement processes within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of category and sourcing strategies that create value through improved quality, cost, delivery, and supplier performance.
• Partner with global suppliers and business stakeholders to identify opportunities, manage risk, and strengthen supply network resilience.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product, manufacturing, and supply chain objectives while balancing operational and commercial priorities.
• Lead and support projects focused on cost reduction, supplier development, process improvement, and supply continuity.

Job Title: Category Buyer – P&E Oil and Water Pumps & Valvetrain

Salary: £49,519 per annum + dependent upon experience

Location: Peterborough & Stafford

Benefits:
