Summary:

Are you looking for a role where your innovative ideas will directly impact drinking water quality and wider environmental benefits?

As Catchment Strategy Lead, you will be responsible for developing and implementing South East Water’s Catchment Strategy with a particular focus on adding value to the company’s Water Industry National Environment Programme.

This role will seek to initiate, set up, and maintain key partnerships working across South East Water’s catchment areas, tracking and monitoring the benefits of working in partnership.

You will develop catchment strategies, identify goals, collaborate with partners and stakeholders, monitor progress and success, develop innovative solutions, and support future Water Resource Management Plans (WRMPs) and Water Industry National Environment Plans (WINEP).

Main responsibilities:
  • Developing and delivering catchment strategy plans for South East Water.
  • Monitoring and measuring the success of partnership working across WINEP and environmental initiatives.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with key partners to deliver outcomes.
  • Identifying opportunities for new partnerships within the agricultural supply chain.
  • Working with the NHH team to identify water saving opportunities on agricultural businesses.
  • Setting up, monitoring, and delivering innovative trials within catchments.
  • Supporting engagement in catchment partnerships and liaising with stakeholders.
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports and communication documents.
Skills / Qualifications / Experience:
  • Technically qualified environmentalist with extensive experience.
  • Understanding of environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong collaboration and influential skills.
  • Data interpretation skills.
  • Full, clean driving license and ability to travel.
  • Knowledge of catchment restoration or agriculture sector.
  • Knowledge of groundwater and surface water sources.
  • Ten years’ experience in catchment or land management.
  • Practical experience in delivering projects in partnership.
Preferred additional skills:
  • Degree in a scientific discipline or relevant area.
  • Chartership or working towards it.
  • Understanding of agricultural and environmental policies.
  • Knowledge of catchment management systems.
  • Understanding of green finance and environmental markets.
  • Knowledge of Natural Capital evaluation.
  • Ability to work with uncertainty and plan adaptively.
  • Project management experience.
