Job description

Want to do the best work of your life? Play your part in making a big difference to the environment and communities we serve. Our people make Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your skills shine.

Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also committed to making a difference, not just because we should but because we care.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Working within our Waste Network Operations department, you have the chance to join as a Catchment Lead. In this role, you will primarily ensure the effective operation of the Sewerage Network within the Birmingham area, delivering full compliance on all standards from Health and Safety to regulatory and company standards.

You will focus on our customers by delivering ‘right first time’ solutions and implementing initiatives within the sewerage networks to improve our performance and serviceability.

Your daily activities will include managing relationships with key parties, conducting workplace audits to monitor contractor compliance, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

If you hold a full UK driving license, possess excellent communication skills, and have experience working with contract partners, please keep reading.

Your key responsibilities:
  • Lead and promote a safe working environment to achieve Goal Zero, ensuring all quality standards are met.
  • Enhance customer experience by proactively resolving service issues and reducing complaints.
  • Conduct workplace audits to monitor contractor compliance with health and safety, work quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage internal flooding incidents within catchments, ensuring proper investigation and mitigation measures.
  • Own all pollution incidents within catchments, ensuring accurate reporting and data collation.
  • Identify potential ‘Hot Spots’ and develop contingency measures to minimize impact on customers and the environment.
  • Assess asset investment needs and record residual risks in the company's risk management system.
  • Participate in a standby rota.
What you’ll bring to the role

We value the right attitude, positivity, and a caring approach. Experience working collaboratively with contract partners and stakeholders across large areas is essential. Experience building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as customers, the Environment Agency, and councils, is beneficial. Knowledge of sewerage law and operations is desirable but not essential.

We celebrate diversity and encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply. We seek motivated individuals eager to contribute and make a difference.

What’s in it for you

This isn’t just a job; it’s a career. We offer competitive benefits, training, and opportunities to contribute to environmental and community well-being.

  • Salary: £39,274.29 - £43,335.22
  • Annual bonus (up to £2,250, subject to eligibility)
  • Car allowance
  • Enhanced pension scheme (company doubles your contribution up to 15%)
  • Sharesave scheme
  • Training and development via our Academy
  • Electric vehicle scheme and retail offers
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Two paid volunteering days per year
