Overview

Catastrophic Injury Associate – Birmingham. Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking an experienced Associate (3–5 PQE) to join its Catastrophic Personal Injury and Large Loss team. The role focuses on defending high-value EL/PL claims for insurers and self-insured corporates.

Responsibilities
  • Assist a Partner on complex large loss, multi-track defendant claims
  • Handle liability investigations, policy coverage and quantum assessments
  • Draft legal documents, client reports and correspondence
  • Attend court hearings, pre-trial meetings and comply with court timetables
  • Liaise with claimant representatives to obtain key evidence
  • Support client relationship development through training and case clinics
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members and NQs
  • Engage in business development and marketing activities
Requirements
  • 3–5 years\' PQE (flexible depending on experience)
  • Solid experience in personal injury litigation (defendant preferred; claimant experience considered)
  • Strong technical ability and case-handling skills
  • Comfortable working independently and managing complex legal issues
  • Commitment to meeting chargeable targets and client service standards
  • Interest in advocacy is encouraged
