Dumfries and Galloway Council is hiring a Casual HWRC Operative to support various Recycling Centre locations. The role involves assisting the public with waste handling, maintaining clean sites, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills and a basic educational background.
Casual HWRC Operative
Dumfries
£12.96 per hour
To cover various Recycling Centre locations in Dumfries and Galloway, you will assist and advise the public to maximise recycling and help with the manual handling of their waste. You will keep the HWRC free from litter and debris and work in accordance with all site procedures, licences, and site rules. You will also be required to assist with some duties on the Transfer Stations where applicable.
You must be educated to a Standard Grade level. You will have good communication and interpersonal skills, be self-motivated and be able to work under pressure.
Experience in the waste industry, building industry or another relevant industry would be a desirable attribute. It would also be desirable to have experience in customer service. You should have an understanding of the importance of recycling and Health & Safety in the workplace.

1 x casual post to assist with the cover of absent staff (holiday, sickness, training etc.)
A current driving licence is a desired requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
