A regional museums service in Worcester is seeking Casual Visitor Engagement Assistants to support events and ensure an excellent visitor experience. Job description

Museums Worcestershire is the joint museums service of Worcester City and Worcestershire County Councils.We are looking to recruit Casual Visitor Engagement Assistants at Worcester’s historic Commandery.

This crucial frontline role requires an enthusiastic and engaging individual to support our busy events programme, including weddings and Escape Rooms, welcome our visitors, interpret our building & exhibitions in an enjoyable and informative way, and to deliver excellent standards of customer care at all times.

The role also includes keyholding and security of the building, supervising contractors, ensuring the smooth operating of the site throughout the day and providing cover in the Shop/Reception. Our casual VEAs also take full responsibility for the building at the weekends.

You may be called upon to cover for staff holidays and sickness, as well as to assist with events and evening functions and to support specific projects and activities. Hours will vary week on week.

You will:

Be able to communicate effectively with all our customers whether they are visitors, Escape Room players or building contractors.

Be able to work well in a team and have a flexible approach to daily demands.

Have the flexibility to work at short notice, on weekdays, at weekends and evening events.

Have a strong background in delivering excellent customer service.

Be able to work well as part of a team.

Have an enthusiastic approach and a desire to learn and share knowledge.

Have a practical and flexible attitude.

Skills & Experience:

Excellent verbal and communication skills

One year’s experience in a similar role

Basic IT skills

Able to work on own initiative if/when required

Able to work weekends and evenings as required

A flexible approach to the day-to-day demands of the museum

Experience of working in a museum or heritage environment
