Job summary

Riverside School is seeking an Activities Coordinator to lead and support Activities Assistants, ensuring a fun, stimulating and safe environment for children.

You will plan daily activities, set up classrooms, manage paperwork and coordinate with Lighthouse Club and social workers. A focus on safeguarding, health and safety, and clear communication with parents and staff is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience planning and delivering structured activities with clear direction.
  • Ability to supervise staff and allocate tasks to Activities Assistants.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and health & safety requirements in child settings.

Responsibilities

  • Encourage participation from Activities Assistants and children.
  • Set up classrooms and equipment for the day according to the cohort.
  • Maintain accurate attendee paperwork and All about me forms for children.
  • Share information with management and ensure documentation review.
  • Provide refreshments while upholding hygiene standards.
  • Facilitate good communication with children, parents, clubs and schools.
  • Attend safeguarding training and team meetings.
  • Brief and debrief Activities Assistants, giving constructive feedback.
  • Ensure risk assessments are completed and environment is safe.
  • Support planning of the day with clear activity times and staff allocation.
  • Monitor mobile phone use, GDPR and confidentiality policies.
  • Keep the work environment healthy, safe and secure.

Job description

  • Adhereto Lighthouse Club and Riverside School processes and procedures whilst thechildren in your care are continually having a fun, stimulating and safe time.
  • Encouragingand leading Activities Assistants ensuring they receive a plan of activitiesfor the day, clear direction and they have read the All about me forms andattendee paperwork before working with any children.
  • Assistwith planning and delivery of activities with structure and enthusiasm;encouraging maximum participation from Activities Assistants and children.
  • Settingup the classrooms including moving furniture and play equipment appropriate forthe cohort of children in that day.
  • Managethe exchange of all relevant information on the children to management,ensuring that All about me forms / similar documentation for children are beingregularly reviewed and staff are working in line with these.
  • Providingrefreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
  • Consultingwith children and involving them in planning future activities.
  • Facilitatinggood communication with all members of the Club, parents, and schools.
  • Undertakingappropriate and relevant training.
  • Keepingthe work environment healthy, safe and secure.
  • Ensuringthat all activities, equipment and the setting is safe with the relevant riskassessments undertaken.
  • Activelycontribute to ensuring up to date reports are correct for the Lighthouse ClubManager to feedback to allocated Social Workers.
  • Ensuringthe appropriate paperwork is completed for any physical dysregulations.
  • Ensuringthat any safeguarding issues are reportedly appropriately to the LighthouseClub Manager
  • Ensuringthe demonstration of good professional standards.
  • Settingand supporting the planning of the day for Activities Assistants with cleardirection, activities times tables and understanding of the needs of thechildren. This will include allocating staff to children as appropriate.
  • EnsuringActivities Assistants are following guidance around the use of mobile phones,GDPR and Confidentiality and Health and Safety.
  • Attendregular Safeguarding training.
  • Attendtermly team meeting meetings with the Lighthouse Club Manager to report on thearea that you lead.
  • Beproactive in de-briefing Activities Assistants at the end of the day if therehave been any physical dysregulations that have required paperwork to be filledout, to provide constructive feedback to the Activities Assistant.
