Job description

We’re recruiting!

Join us as a Learning Disability Support Worker and help build a future where learning disabled people live the best life possible.

We know that life can be complicated for everybody. But some of us are stopped from working towards our dreams. Many learning disabled people won’t be heard about the support they’d like. Some won’t get to decide what they do for work, or how to spend or save their money. Many won't get to try out the new hobbies they’d love to try. But you can change all that.

Join our growing team in Kingston, and get all the training you need to become a confident Support Worker.

Do you feel like our values - Kind, Diverse, Positive and Visionary - are a good match to your values? Then we’ve got lots in common already. Come on board and support learning disabled adults with those very values to develop skills, achieve their life goals and thrive in your community.

What we offer you

  • Where you’ll be working: Kingston Day Opportunities
  • Type of service: Resource Centre and Community Based Day Opportunities
  • Location: New Malden
  • Your salary: £13.85 per hour
  • Your working hours: Casual opportunities available - Monday to Friday - 9am-4pm
  • Generous Holidays: 33 days of annual leave (including eight days statutory bank holidays).
  • Pay incentives: 20% Bank Holiday allowance, 50% for key dates over Christmas.
  • Training & development: Earn money while you get a fully funded Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care.
  • Lots of benefits: Health, retail and cash incentives to use how you want.

What you’ll be doing

You will be supporting adults in our 1-1 Service to take part in a variety of activities that help them to learn new skills, socialise and potentially work towards employment. Some of these activities are facilitated in our busy building where we run our own canteen and café. We are looking for a candidate with skills in areas such as art, music, drama, horticulture, cookery and IT. You will require some experience in planning and facilitating sessions with meaningful outcomes for learning disabled adults with a range of abilities. You will need competent computer skills to plan and record.

We also access a timetable of community-based activities that include gym sessions, swimming and dancing classes. We use public transport and our own vehicles. For this position, we require a candidate to be able to push a wheelchair.

The most important aspect of this unique job is your enthusiasm and ability to create a positive rapport with the people we support in an environment where they are given every opportunity to achieve their goals.

We can’t wait to meet you at our Kingston services!
