A caring and patient individual is sought to provide emotional support to Lou, a warm and nurturing person in need of guidance. The role focuses on offering reassurance and helping Lou manage her emotions while maintaining a positive outlook on life. The position requires someone with excellent listening skills and a strong commitment to inclusion, offering the chance to make a meaningful difference in Lou's life.
Lou currently enjoys spending most of her time with her partner, but she also makes daily phone calls to her team to offload what is on her mind. These conversations are important to her, and she can spend quite a bit of time talking, so it’s essential that staff are patient, good listeners, and avoid interrupting her.
She needs people who can give her the time and space to express herself fully. Lou is a kind, caring person with a great sense of humour. She used to love a good practical joke and still enjoys a laugh when the mood strikes. She has enjoyed music, dancing, and the theatre—interests that may return in the future.
At times, Lou can find it difficult to manage her emotions. Your role will be to provide steady emotional support—offering patience, kindness, and understanding when she needs it most. You’ll help create a sense of emotional security, supporting Lou as she begins to explore, understand, and manage her feelings more confidently.
Lou is looking for someone with a warm, nurturing presence—a maternal figure—who is both caring and consistent. She values kindness but also needs clear boundaries and someone who can stick to them. There may be times when Lou feels overwhelmed and reacts with risky behaviours or negativity toward those around her.
In these moments, it’s essential that you remain calm, confident, and grounded, offering her the reassurance she needs. Good emotional intelligence is essential within this role. While the role is primarily emotional support over the phone, it’s important that you’re also open to providing practical help when needed—and ready to gently guide Lou toward recognising the positives in her life.
