Disability Sport Yorkshire is the leading charity in Yorkshire dedicated to improving opportunities for disabled people in sport and physical activity. Our mission is to ensure that disabled people have equal access to inclusive, high-quality sporting experiences across the region. Through innovative programmes, strategic partnerships, and advocacy, we work to break down barriers to participation and create a more inclusive sporting landscape.

We are now seeking a female Sports Coach to deliver weekly, inclusive and engaging physical activity sessions as part of our female-only programme. The role offers flexibility and is ideal for someone looking to contribute to meaningful, community-focused work.

Salary: £15.00 per hour

Hours: Casual, minimum 2 hours per week

Location: Wakefield

Contract: Self-Employed, invoiced monthly

Job Purpose:

Lead the delivery of inclusive, fun, and safe sports sessions for women and girls, supporting increased participation and confidence in physical activity within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and deliver high-quality sports and activity sessions tailored to female participants.
  2. Create a welcoming, inclusive, and empowering environment.
  3. Engage and motivate participants, supporting their physical, social, and emotional development.
  4. Ensure safety and adherence to safeguarding and health and safety policies.
  5. Complete basic monitoring and evaluation tasks (attendance, feedback).
  6. Act as a positive ambassador for Disability Sport Yorkshire.

Person Specification:

  • Female (occupational requirement).
  • Experience in delivering sports or activity sessions.
  • Positive, inclusive, and engaging communication style.
  • Commitment to equality and supporting underrepresented groups.
  • Ability to motivate participants of different ages and abilities.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours (evenings/weekends).
  • Standard DBS check or willingness to undertake one.
  • Safeguarding and First Aid training or willingness to complete.
  • Recognised coaching qualification (e.g., Level 1/2 or equivalent).
  • Lived experience of disability or understanding of barriers faced by disabled women.
  • Experience working with girls and women in community settings.
