Job description

Retail Team Member - Bury St Edmunds

Location: Bury St Edmunds

Hours: To include weekends

Pay rate: £12.60 Per Hour (including paid breaks)

Join Our Retail Team! There’s more to COOK than food: our shops play active roles in the communities they serve, thanks to the warmth, knowledge, and care of our Retail Team. We’re looking for remarkable people to join us who can host customers in the shop just like they would at home.

The Role

  • Offer remarkable service, prioritizing the customer above all else.
  • Use your knowledge to help customers plan menus or advise on catering for occasions. Talk to customers about upcoming offers, products, and promotions.
  • Ensure the shop always looks immaculate, clean, and spotless; stock is replenished and rotated; freezers are full.
  • Operate the till efficiently and accurately.
  • Understand shop paperwork, legal checks, and their purposes.
  • Open and close the shop, including cashing up.
  • Check in deliveries, assist with stock taking, and place orders as required.
  • Maintain a smart appearance with apron and name badge at all times.

Good to Have

If you are a foodie, great! We will train you to know our products, how and where they are made, and to understand what dishes suit which occasions.

Experience is not necessary, but previous experience in retail or a customer-facing role is a plus.

If you tick most of these boxes but not all—don’t stress. We’re all about potential.

Excellent Benefits include

  • Paid breaks
  • Paid leave on birthdays, moving house, becoming a grandparent, or your child starting school for the first time
  • Staff profit share
  • Wellbeing program
  • 30% staff discount
  • Access to CookieJar Smart Spending discounts and free food perks
  • Team meals, events, and away days
  • Being part of a B-Corp-certified business that values sustainability, people, and community

And many more.
