Job summary

North Lakes Children's Services is seeking Casual Residential Child Care Workers to support boys aged 6-18 in residential homes, including Headsnook and Carlisle. The role focuses on creating safe, nurturing, and engaging daily experiences, with ad-hoc cover and shift patterns across multiple homes.

Responsibilities include assisting with routines, promoting independence, attending appointments, completing paperwork, and maintaining household tasks.

Qualifications

• Flexibility to work up to 14-hour shifts with varied start times (08:00, 12:00, 14:00)
• Understanding of the challenges faced by young people in care
• Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification (or willingness to work toward it)
• Excellent communication, listening, and teamwork skills
• Willingness to learn and complete an enhanced DBS (paid for by us)
• Experience in EBD, social care, residential work, or youth work (advantageous)

Responsibilities

• Support daily routines: morning/evening tasks, personal hygiene, meals, school runs, activities, and bedtime
• Promote independence, life skills, socialisation, and room cleanliness
• Attend appointments and support activity plans and daily targets
• Complete paperwork: day sheets, handovers, budgeting, checks, and daily records
• Carry out household tasks: cleaning, laundry, shopping, meal prep, and kitchen hygiene
• Complete safety checks (COSHH, fire, vehicle)
• Build positive relationships with families and help organise family time
