Job Description
  • Job Title: Offshore Chemist - Casual
  • Job Location: Offshore Aberdeen
  • Salary: Offshore and onshore day rates

We are seeking a Casual Offshore Chemist to join our team in Aberdeen as needed. The role involves performing sampling and analysis according to recognized international methods and documented procedures, as well as preparing reports. You will deliver high standards of analytical performance and ensure the smooth operation of the platform laboratory.

Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure compliance with all test methods, procedures, and quality systems necessary for best practices.
  • Represent SGS on client sites, adhering to their test methods, procedures, and QHSE requirements.
  • Coordinate with line managers or onshore support to address equipment, method, or sample issues and initiate corrective actions.
  • Identify and implement improvements to laboratory operations to maximize equipment availability, maintain, and enhance technical standards, and ensure profitability.
  • Maintain adequate stock of consumables to ensure continuous productivity.
  • Ensure testing equipment is calibrated, safe, and suitable for use.
  • Perform routine sampling, analysis, and reporting according to client procedures.
Qualifications
Essential
  • HNC level qualification in chemistry or a related science-based subject, or equivalent.
  • Offshore medical certificate.
  • Offshore survival certificate.
  • MIST online training.
Desirable
  • SBT01
  • Oil in Water analysis experience
  • H2S sampling experience, including use of half mask and full BA mask
  • Oil in Sand analysis
  • NORM awareness
