Job summary

Manchester City Council is seeking Casual Lecturers for its Digital Skills, Computing and IT team. The role involves planning, delivering, assessing and moderating part-time adult courses from Level 1-3 and expanding to Level 4 courses in AI, programming, cybersecurity, networking and data analysis.

The role requires GCSE English and Maths, a Level 5 teaching qualification or willingness to pursue, and delivery across day and evening sessions to support learners towards employment or further

Casual Car Documentation -

The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation.

Manchester Adult Education has an exciting opportunity for passionate industry experienced Casual Lecturers to join our Digital Skills, Computing and IT team. The role will involve the planning, delivery, assessment and moderation of part time adult courses from Level 1-3, specifically in specialist 'in demand' areas such as AI, programming, cybersecurity, networking, website design, digital marketing and data analysis.

• Level 1 - Level 3 Programming
• Level 1 - Level 3 Cybersecurity
• Level 2 - Level 3 Networking

We are looking to expand the above provision, offer qualifications to Level 4 and also to deliver Level 2 and Level 3 courses in AI, website design, digital marketing and data analysis.

Key Accountabilities:

• To deliver teaching and learning to at least a consistently good or outstanding standard
• To assess learners work accurately, both formatively and summatively against appropriate awarding body criteria/key course targets to ensure learners achieve their qualifications/course goals
• To take course leadership responsibilities
• To take part in team meetings and working groups
• To comply with the service quality assurance procedures
• To comply with the service policies and procedures
• To take personal and professional responsibility for keeping up to date in the subject area.

You will be joining a committed and supportive team of teachers who are passionate about supporting adult learners in the community to improve their digital skills to secure employment or advance to higher education.

This is a casual role teaching daytimes and evening sessions.

As a Lecturer you should:

• Have a track record of successfully delivering Digital Skills, Computing and IT courses at higher specialist skills and knowledge levels (AI, programming, cybersecurity, networking, website design, digital marketing and data analysis)
• Hold GCSE A* - C / 9 - 4 in English or equivalent (essential)
• Hold GCSE A* - C / 9 - 4 in Maths or equivalent (essential)
• Hold a teaching qualification, ideally to Level 5 or willingness to work towards
• Commitment to develop your teaching skills and qualifications (essential)

We welcome applications from newly and recently qualified teachers, as well as established teachers.

You should be able to demonstrate:

• Professional and academic competence/qualifications to develop higher level courses
• Professional and academic competence/qualifications to teach on the higher level courses
• Experience of adopting a range of engaging teaching and learning strategies
• Use of e-learning platforms such as Google Classroom and others or the willingness to learn

In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will also demonstrate the ability to engage and develop adult learners, and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
