Job summary

Hodge Hill Girls' School is seeking Lead Exam Invigilators to promote a supportive examination atmosphere. You will start, oversee, and finish examinations under the guidance of the Examinations Officer, assisting with venue preparation and paperwork while monitoring conduct and safeguarding requirements.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for lead exam invigilatorswho can promote a supportive atmosphere for all our pupils during their examinations. Under the guidance of the Examinations Officer you will start,overseeand finishexaminationsas necessary. You will be assisting in the preparations of the exams venue, completion of relevant paperwork and the monitoring and management of conduct during internal and external examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ).

You will play a key role in upholding the integrity of all external examinations/assessments process. Hours will vary, with the bulk of GCSE examinations falling in May and June. However, additional examinations take place throughout the year.The successful candidates will be dedicated and responsible individuals who can be relied upon to be punctual, professional and assist in all aspects of the daily administration of examinations. You may also be required to act as 'readers' and 'scribes' for learners with special educational needs.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Lead Invigilator duties - This list will be updated regularly in line with the needs of the school
  • Setup the Boxes for each exam room
  • Create/update folders for each room
  • Setting up the exam’s rooms, putting posters, clocks, information on the wall.
  • Taking all the posters down and putting them away at the end of the exam.
  • Responsibility of taking the completed register to Attendance Office within 10 minutes of the exam starting or ensuring another Invigilator takes the register down to the Attendance Office
  • Read JCQ Instruction at the start of the exam
  • Checking JCQ instructions and amend the fire evacuation instructions for their examination room
  • Lead and setup for the next exam. Making sure all resources are added accordingly
  • Invigilator Allocation checking
  • Checking exam papers
  • Second Pair of Eyes form
  • Seating Plan Displays (Foyer)
  • Checking/creating packs for Certificates.
  • Helping with certificate distribution
  • Printing, photocopying, supporting the Examinations Officer with any additional exam support
  • GLS Assessments
  • Checking Handbooks/Policies for students/staff/invigilators
  • In the absence of the Exams Officer to support the Cover person with examinations process.
