Job summary

Doncaster Racecourse is hiring enthusiastic Kitchen Porters to join our casual catering team. No experience is necessary as full training will be provided, and applicants must be of school leavers age.

You will help keep the venue clean and welcoming, operate plate and pot wash machines, assist the culinary team, and support stock and deliveries in line with health and safety rules. Our casual team offers flexible hours with the possibility of full-time work, meals on race days, tickets to race

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal communication and customer care skills.
  • Ability to stay flexible and adapt to busy race days.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: friendly, confident and outgoing.
  • Numeracy and literacy skills for handling cash, stock and paperwork.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standard of customer service at all times.
  • Promote a happy, welcoming atmosphere in the venue.
  • Keep work areas and public spaces clean and tidy; follow Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Operate plate wash and pot wash; perform daily maintenance and cleaning.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is cleaned and well maintained.
  • Handle chemicals safely with PPE as required.
  • Assist in the culinary team and with stock rotations.
  • Accept deliveries and report discrepancies to Head Chef.
  • Complete associated paperwork and manage cash securely.
  • Act as information point for customers and support venue operations.

Job description

Doncaster Racecourse is now looking to expand their back of house teams with enthusiastic, friendly and motivated Kitchen Porters.

As we start to move into our autumn/winter season, we have lots of exciting race days coming up that we want you to be a part of!

No experience is necessary as full training will be given.

Please note you must be of the school leavers age to apply for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure guests receive the highest standard of customer service at all times.
  • To promote a happy and welcoming atmosphere within the venue.
  • Keep the area of work and public areas clean and tidy before, during and after opening hours and to undertake cleaning duties as required – paying particular attention to Health and Safety and COSHH Guidelines.
  • Operate the plate wash and pot wash machines, and carry out daily maintenance and cleaning.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is cleaned and well maintained.
  • Use of chemicals in a safe manner including the use of PPE where required.
  • Assist in the culinary team.
  • Collect and distribute stores and/or prepared food as directed.
  • Assist in stock rotation and the safe storage of food in line with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Accept deliveries and report any issues or discrepancies to the Head Chef/Senior Sous Chef immediately.
  • Complete associated paperwork as required.
  • Handle cash, stock and equipment in a secure manner.
  • Act as an information point for customers.
  • Record wastage in line with venue procedures and dispose of rubbish in line with any onsite recycling initiatives.
  • Adhere to Company policies and procedures.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties in line with business demands.
