Casual Healthcare Assistants | Ashburton Hospital

Start Date – As soon as possible
Shifts - Mixture of morning, afternoon and night shifts
Status – Casual
Location – Ashburton Hospital
Salary – Based on the NZNO Nursing and Midwifery collective agreement

About theRole

Healthcare Assistantsare instrumental in providing care to patients in all clinical areas acrossAshburton Hospital. You will work in a variety of wards at Ashburton Hospital,including the Acute Admitting Unit, Ward 1, Ward 2, as well as Tuarangi Home.

AshburtonHospital provides a range of Inpatient health services;both acute, andassessment treatment and rehabilitation.Tuarangi Home is a ResidentialCare facility that provides hospital level and dementia care at both rest homeand hospital levels.

As a HealthcareAssistant you will assist nursing staff with patient cares which at times canbe one on one whilst maintaining a safe and clean work environment. You willenjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team, have excellent interpersonaland organisational skills, a high level of confidentiality and the ability towork well under pressure.

The role of a healthcare assistantvaries from day to day but you will be there to make sure that the ward isrunning smoothly and to its highest potential. This could mean performing avariety of tasks such as:

  • Basicpatient care, hygiene and personal care
  • Cleaningand tidying the ward
  • Assistingthe nursing team with a variety of tasks on the ward
  • Ensuringthat patients have the best experience possible
