Liverpool Football Club is seeking a Casual Goalkeeping Coach to support the LFC Foundation in delivering high-quality goalkeeping coaching and development across the Girls Pathway and Football Development Programme. The role requires delivering personalised and group sessions, maintaining safe facilities, and collaborating with medical and safeguarding staff.

The post is casual with variable hours including evenings and weekends, based at the LFC Academy and Merseyside sites.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to delivery of Goalkeeping provision within the programme.
  • Design and deliver individualised goalkeeping programmes and group sessions.
  • Collaborate with Physiotherapist/Sports Therapist to support activation/prehab programmes.
  • Maintain safe facilities and equipment for the Girls Pathway and Football Development Programme.
  • Keep comprehensive records meeting FA and professional body standards.
  • Communicate with parents regarding goalkeeping development, injury prevention and recovery.
  • Advise staff on players' needs and attend case management meetings.
  • Educate coaches on embedding goalkeeping outcomes in sessions.
  • Work with Safeguarding Manager to prioritise wellbeing of players and staff.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our LFC Foundation team as a Casual Goalkeeping Coach. In this role you will support and develop all players within the group to attain the highest levels of performance in a safe, secure, and supportive environment and drive and nurture a positive culture within the training group. Be a coach who makes the Football Development Programme a place where players learn, have fun, and develop a love for the game. What will you be doing?

  • Contribute to the LFC Foundation Delivery Blueprint / Curriculum ensuring there is Goalkeeping provision which complements the football programme.
  • Deliver - or oversee the delivery of - Girls Goalkeeping Centre and Football Development programme, including:
  • Design and deliver individualised Goalkeeping specific programmes as well as group training sessions
  • Work with Physiotherapist/Sports Therapist to develop and support an activation / prehab programme
  • Manage facilities and equipment within the Girls Pathway and Football Development Programme so that it is well maintained and safe to use
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of work conducted with players and coaches. Keep records which meet the standard required by The FA and the appropriate professional bodies
  • Communicate with parents in the event of Goalkeeping related queries, generally and specifically to their children. Educate parents with regard to their role in supporting Goalkeeping development, injury prevention, injury care, recovery, diet and other factors relating to lifestyle away from the environment.
  • Advise and direct other staff on the needs of players. Attend case management meetings and provide professional opinion /input
  • Educate coaches on the Goalkeeping provision and embedding outcomes within technical sessions

    Experience working with young athletes in a football environment.
  • A good understanding of young players, including their physical and psychological development.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience in a role that supports an understanding of how children learn and develop, such as teaching or coaching.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and support players in a positive way.
  • A genuine care for player needs, with the ability to provide personalised support and clear communication.
  • An innovative and open-minded approach, with confidence to try new ideas that help players develop, engage and enjoy the game.
  • National Goalkeeping Course and FA UEFA C qualification.
  • FA DBS, FA Safeguarding Children, and FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football or FA Emergency Aid qualification.
  • Understanding of goalkeeping within an applied team setting, with knowledge of how key goalkeeping concepts apply across women's, girls' and boys' football pathways.
  • Experience developing and delivering individual and group goalkeeping preparation and recovery strategies for children and adolescent players.
  • Knowledge of injury minimisation strategies.
  • Desirable:
  • Working towards, or already completed, UEFA B Goalkeeping or Outfield qualification would be beneficial.
  • Talent identification and development knowledge, including awareness of unconscious bias, performance and potential.
  • Commitment to continued professional development.
  • A coaching or mentoring qualification, such as EMCC, would be desirable.
    This is a casual position, working variable hours across the week including evening, weekends and public holidays on a flexible assignment basis. The role is based at the LFC Academy and local sites across Merseyside for fixtures.
