We have an exciting opportunity for individuals to join our LFC Foundation team as Casual Foundation Phase Age Group Coaches. In this role, you will work with the LFC Foundation to support and develop all players within the group to attain the highest levels of performance in a safe, secure, and supportive environment. You will also drive and nurture a positive culture within the training group.
What will you be doing?
- Plan, prepare, deliver, and evaluate coaching sessions following a training programme.
- Provide input to the development and ongoing improvement of the coaching curriculum.
- Coach in a way that encourages players to ask questions and seek feedback for improvement and clarity.
- Encourage players to have input into footballing decisions and their own learning process.
- Communicate the reasons behind decisions ('the why') as well as the actions ('the what').
- Ensure players understand the purpose and 'why' of training sessions.
- Provide learning and development opportunities for volunteer coaches.
- Participate in selection decisions, such as attending trials and post-trial evaluations.
- Work across different age groups, with responsibility for one group and occasional work with others.
- Set appropriate development targets for individual players and work towards them.
- Provide feedback to players, utilizing technology where appropriate.
- Monitor and evaluate player development, providing regular feedback to players and parents/carers.
- Collaborate with coaches, medics, and performance staff on player development, injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
- Manage games and festivals effectively, ensuring a clear development philosophy for players and parents/carers.
- Be available to offer advice, guidance, and support on football and personal matters, including managing injuries and other challenges.
- Promote appropriate behavior within the group.
- Work with the Safeguarding Manager to prioritize the wellbeing and welfare of all players and staff.
Who are we looking for?
Successful candidates will have recent proven experience working with young athletes in a football environment and a background that demonstrates an understanding of different teaching and learning styles to support young people's development. An understanding of the physical and psychological development of young players, including up-to-date knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures, is essential. Knowledge of the women and girls’ talent pathway is desirable.
Essential qualifications:
- FA Level 2/UEFA C or above coaching qualification
- FA DBS
- FA Safeguarding Children
- FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF) or FA Emergency First Aid
