About Ickle Pickles Nursery School

With close community ties and our carefully curated spaces, Ickle Pickles is a much-loved nursery school in Iwade.

At Storal, we believe in the power of passionate individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of children. While a qualification in Early Years Education is highly valued, we welcome applications from those who are eager to learn and are passionate about working with children, even if they don’t yet hold a formal qualification.

About you

You enjoy supporting and encouraging the natural curiosity and excitement of young children and were born to teach and shape the future of our younger generations.

You have a natural nurturing openness, a warm and positive outlook, and you care about learning and education standards in the UK.

(We can sometimes consider unqualified Educators, so if you can demonstrate the necessary values and enthusiasm for working within this environment, submit an application. Nothing ventured nothing gained).

What you'll be doing

You’ll be helping to provide cover for the children as and when needed. This could be for periods of holiday, sickness, or even vacancy gaps. Sometimes you'll support for a full day, or it may just be a morning or afternoon session.

You'll likely start most of your days with a fully formulated plan that will soon get completely derailed. Pivoting when the circumstances call for it is a regular occurrence in child care!

Creativity is key. Teaching young children allows for hands-on arts and crafts, storytelling, exercise, and educational games. It’s important to keep things fresh and try new activities to keep attention spans engaged. Of course, we work within the EYFS standards, but that doesn't stop you from engaging your creative flair and enthusiasm for learning.

What you'll need

  • Experience as an Early Years Educator (Nursery Nurse/Practitioner) or having worked with children under the age of 5 is advantageous.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS is desirable.
  • Reflecting the Storal values around responsibility, openness, and working together.

What you'll get

  • Competitive rates of pay dependent on experience, qualification, and NMW age guidance.
  • Performance related bonuses.
  • 50% childcare discount.
  • Annual wellness day off.
  • Access to retail and other discounts through Perkbox.
  • 20 days holidays (plus bank holiday), increasing to 22 days after 2 years service and 25 days after 5 years service.
  • Dedicated learning and development support.
  • Access to one-to-one confidential counselling sessions through our Employee Assistance Programme.
