About The Role and Person
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Capel Manor College, and we are now seeking to appoint a Casual Animal Keeper to join our animal management team.
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day routine care of the College’s animal stock, including cleaning out accommodations, providing feed, water, bedding, nesting material, and conducting daily health checks. The successful candidate will be an expert in their area and will implement the highest industry standards of animal husbandry and welfare. They will also be responsible for maintaining and upgrading the animal facilities and record-keeping for their area of responsibility. Additionally, they will deliver interactive enclosure encounters and experiences to visitors. Our Animal Keepers will support Practical Instructors and Lecturers, ensuring relevant resources (such as animals and equipment) are readily available for learning.
The ideal candidate will hold a Level 2 qualification or higher in an animal care discipline and have some experience working with a range of animal species. They should possess excellent communication and organization skills, demonstrate awareness of health and safety issues, and have a strong commitment to the care and welfare of the College’s animals.
Please note that some weekend and bank holiday work is required for this role.
This is a casual position with variable working hours. Applicants should specify if they are applying for Mottingham or Crystal Palace and indicate their availability in the application form.
