Location: Peterborough

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Salary: Up to £26,000, depending on experience

Who you are

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Solid IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to relay information clearly and work effectively with others
  • A genuine interest in working in a high-volume, high-transaction environment
  • The ability to build relationships with suppliers and colleagues and collaborate on specific projects
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A proactive and ‘can-do’ attitude, especially when resolving discrepancies.
  • Strong understanding of accounts reconciliation and financial controls preferable
  • A self-starter mentality, able to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ideally, at least 2 years of relevant experience in a large accounting office (automotive retail sector experience is a plus, but not essential)
  • Knowledge of the Kerridge/Keyloop dealer management system would be an advantage
  • A willingness to learn and pursue a career in finance (strong numeracy skills and prior experience in a busy office environment are key)
  • What you’ll do

    As aCashier Clerk, you’ll be an integral part of the daily operations, ensuring our cash books and bank accounts are managed accurately and on time. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Communicate effectively with internal customers to maintain smooth operations.
  • Post and allocate all cash sheets (site banking), undertaking journals where necessary
  • Handle queries, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and efficiently.
  • Conduct full bank reconciliations and liaise with relevant teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Audit current month’s cashbook supporting documents, ensuring everything is complete and correctly authorised.
  • Ensure all documents are stored correctly for easy retrieval.
  • Post cash paid entries onto Keyloop (cheques & cleared banking)
  • Carry out full bank reconciliations and publicise to AR/AP and Accountants to resolve outstanding items
  • Investigate aged lodgements and report debit balances to the Senior Accountant.
  • Maintain professionalism and courtesy when interacting with colleagues and customers.
