Purpose of the Role

To meet all customer and business requirements in the most cost-effective, professional, and timely manner, while achieving a high level of customer service. To provide customers with quality service for all cash sale inquiries, quotations, orders, payments, deliveries, and associated administration in the most cost-effective way for Hanson Quarry Products. To secure work, follow up on sales leads, and proactively seek new cash sale customers.

Key accountabilities

  1. Deliver QUOTIFIC customer experience: "quoted on time, delivery in full and on time, invoiced correctly"
  2. Answer incoming calls professionally
  3. Manage all incoming cash sales calls and emails, understanding customer requirements to process requests accurately and efficiently
  4. Build relationships and acknowledge internal and external customers individually, providing personal service
  5. Navigate systems efficiently, keeping customers informed at all times
  6. Support team ethos with a positive, enthusiastic approach, assisting colleagues as needed
  7. Create, amend, and confirm new customer cash sale orders, including all necessary details such as customer information, order specifics, and product requirements
  8. Accurately process contracts, orders, invoices, service charges, and queries
  9. Complete sales reports, manual documents, and general housekeeping, along with any other administrative tasks as required
  10. Investigate and resolve customer issues and complaints by listening actively and seeking suitable solutions, following the complaint procedure
  11. Escalate customer requests or issues using the escalation process when outside individual control or authority
  12. Proactively prospect within target markets and maintain a regular customer call cycle
  13. Liaise with internal stakeholders including Material Planners, ISRs, TSMs, Allocators, Pre-planners, FSMs, Site Plants, and Technical teams
  14. Develop knowledge across roles and business areas to provide flexible cover when requested
  15. Maintain professional relationships with internal and external colleagues to ensure high customer service levels
  16. Ask questions proactively to understand opportunities and maximize sales
  17. Review Barbour ABI data and generate self-lead generation prospects
  18. Develop and maintain an effective commercial call cycle to transition customers into account customers, working closely with ISRs
  19. Support team morale and help colleagues achieve business goals
  20. Reconcile payments with Accounts
  21. Handle inquiries efficiently, making processes easy for customers
  22. Prospect for new cash sale leads and generate leads via Google search and social media
  23. Follow up on opportunities and maintain customer relationships
  24. Collaborate with the commercial team to understand and communicate value adds to close sales
  25. Negotiate effectively at appropriate levels
  26. Understand the value of materials to the customer (end use)
  27. Increase repeat business through improved service levels
  28. Own pricing strategies to deliver increased margins
  29. Contribute to area strategies targeting desired market segments
  30. Understand production and truck capabilities to negotiate realistic delivery times, ensuring customer satisfaction
  31. Apply market, product, and customer knowledge to daily operations
  32. Understand the forward order book, forecasted sales, and operational capacity to support planning and budgeting
  33. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

Education/Qualifications

  • Good level of English and Math skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills at all levels
