Purpose of the Role
To meet all customer and business requirements in the most cost-effective, professional, and timely manner, while achieving a high level of customer service. To provide customers with quality service for all cash sale inquiries, quotations, orders, payments, deliveries, and associated administration in the most cost-effective way for Hanson Quarry Products. To secure work, follow up on sales leads, and proactively seek new cash sale customers.
Key accountabilities
- Deliver QUOTIFIC customer experience: "quoted on time, delivery in full and on time, invoiced correctly"
- Answer incoming calls professionally
- Manage all incoming cash sales calls and emails, understanding customer requirements to process requests accurately and efficiently
- Build relationships and acknowledge internal and external customers individually, providing personal service
- Navigate systems efficiently, keeping customers informed at all times
- Support team ethos with a positive, enthusiastic approach, assisting colleagues as needed
- Create, amend, and confirm new customer cash sale orders, including all necessary details such as customer information, order specifics, and product requirements
- Accurately process contracts, orders, invoices, service charges, and queries
- Complete sales reports, manual documents, and general housekeeping, along with any other administrative tasks as required
- Investigate and resolve customer issues and complaints by listening actively and seeking suitable solutions, following the complaint procedure
- Escalate customer requests or issues using the escalation process when outside individual control or authority
- Proactively prospect within target markets and maintain a regular customer call cycle
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including Material Planners, ISRs, TSMs, Allocators, Pre-planners, FSMs, Site Plants, and Technical teams
- Develop knowledge across roles and business areas to provide flexible cover when requested
- Maintain professional relationships with internal and external colleagues to ensure high customer service levels
- Ask questions proactively to understand opportunities and maximize sales
- Review Barbour ABI data and generate self-lead generation prospects
- Develop and maintain an effective commercial call cycle to transition customers into account customers, working closely with ISRs
- Support team morale and help colleagues achieve business goals
- Reconcile payments with Accounts
- Handle inquiries efficiently, making processes easy for customers
- Prospect for new cash sale leads and generate leads via Google search and social media
- Follow up on opportunities and maintain customer relationships
- Collaborate with the commercial team to understand and communicate value adds to close sales
- Negotiate effectively at appropriate levels
- Understand the value of materials to the customer (end use)
- Increase repeat business through improved service levels
- Own pricing strategies to deliver increased margins
- Contribute to area strategies targeting desired market segments
- Understand production and truck capabilities to negotiate realistic delivery times, ensuring customer satisfaction
- Apply market, product, and customer knowledge to daily operations
- Understand the forward order book, forecasted sales, and operational capacity to support planning and budgeting
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Education/Qualifications
- Good level of English and Math skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills at all levels
